- ‘Babai’ is a trans-creation of the world famous playwright Strindberg’s ‘The Father’…. The play talks about the eternal power politics between man and woman, state and religion, society and individual.
- The play is about an extremely complex relationship between the husband and wife, which explores when it comes to the question of the future of their only child. Not wanting to lose her grip over the child, the wife gradually spreads the poison of suspicion into the father’s mind about the fatherhood of the child. She tactfully hints that only the mother knows who the real father of a child is.
- Therefore the right of the husband over the child is at stake and thus pushing the husband into abyss of dark doubts. The wife takes over the reign of the household making everybody believe that the husband’s sanity is under question and at the end the family under the vigilance of his wife sends him to an asylum. The wife’s scheme becomes successful and she takes control over the child.
