- Renowned poet, theatre director and actor Subhomoy Dutt has been arrested for his outrageous comments against the state and religion. He and his assistant Satyajit Mishra are detained in custody under State supervision with other petty convicts.
- The rowdy jail mates try to rob the new inmates, but a senior internee intervenes and convinces the inmates to undertake a mock trial of Subhomoy. A young convict accuses Subhomoy as an idealist and a bad poet. Subhomoy accepts the allegation and pleas to defend his case by enacting a play using all the jailbirds as actors. The judge agrees and Subhomoy transforms the lockup as a stage and starts performing.
- It is the story of the mad knight Don Quixote. The adventures of Don and his mate Sancho Panza lead to intriguing and bizarre events. Exciting conflicts brew up in the play within a play. The petty prison cell metamorphoses into a space of eloquent metaphors with the scornful deeds of Don Quixote, intertwined with contemporary interpolations.
- A musical carnival emerges as forms like kirtan, flamenco, rock-n-roll, Rabindrasangeet, toppa, and western classical amalgam to recognize history and contemporaneity in a fresh light.
- It is a play about IMPOSSIBLE DREAM.
