- নর্থ কলকাতার এক এঁদো গলির এক ভাঙাচোরা বাড়িতে এসে উপস্থিত হয় সম্ভ্রান্ত লিলি। এই বাড়ি তার বোন দোলা এবং দোলার বর ববির। লিলি তার ভিতর লুকিয়ে রেখেছে গভীর ট্রমা এবং গোপন অতীত।
- পরিবারের বাগানবাড়ি হারানোর পর, এবং নিজের অর্থ এবং অবস্থান সমস্ত কিছু হারানোর পর এই বোনের বাড়িই হয়ে দাঁড়ায় লিলির একমাত্র সম্বল। তাই এখানে আসতে সে বাধ্য হয়েছে।
- কিন্তু এই বাড়ি সম্বল হয়ে দাঁড়ানোর বদলে হয়ে দাঁড়ায় প্রায় লিলির কফিনের শেষ পেরেক। কারণ দোলার বর ববির সাথে তার বিরোধ। লিলি যত এই বিরোধ এড়ানোর চেষ্টা করে তত যেন বিরোধে জড়িয়ে পড়ে।
- যে ট্রমা, যে অতীতকে সে লুকোনোর চেষ্টা করে, ববি তার সমস্ত শক্তি, অসভ্যতা দিয়ে সেই অতীতকে বের করে আনতে চায়। লিলির বর্তমানকে নরক করে দিতে চায়। লিলি যত খোঁজে ভালোবাসা, একটা আশ্রয় তত যেন সবকিছু তার থেকে দূরে সরে যেতে থাকে বা দূরে সরিয়ে দেওয়া হয়।
- এই ট্র্যাজেডি একটা ফুলের নাম বলো আমাদের সামনে প্রশ্ন রাখে, এই গল্প লিলিদের হেরে যাওয়ার গল্প নাকি অশিক্ষার জিতে যাওয়ার গল্প! নাকি যারা সব মেনে নিয়ে সমাজের জিতে যাওয়া এবং ব্যক্তির হেরে যাওয়াকে, সাধারণের হেরে যাওয়াকে নিশ্চিত করছে তাদের গল্প!
- Lili, a woman of refined background, arrives at a dilapidated house tucked away in a narrow lane of North Kolkata. This house belongs to her sister, Dola, and Dola’s husband, Bobby. Deep within her, Lili conceals a profound trauma and a secret past.
- Having lost her family’s ancestral estate, her wealth, and her social standing, her sister’s home becomes Lili’s last remaining sanctuary—forcing her to take refuge here.
- However, far from being a sanctuary, this house turns out to be the final nail in Lili’s coffin, largely due to her deep-seated conflict with Dola’s husband, Bobby. The more Lili tries to avoid this friction, the more she finds herself entangled in it. Bobby, with all his brute force and vulgarity, relentlessly tries to dig up the past and trauma Lili so desperately tries to hide, turning her present into a living hell. As Lili desperately seeks love and shelter, everything seems to slip away—or is forcefully stripped away from her.
- This tragedy, Ekta Phuler Nam Bolo (Tell Me the Name of a Flower), leaves us with a lingering question: Is this the story of women like Lili accepting defeat, or the triumph of ignorance and brutality? Or is it the story of those who passively accept everything—ensuring the victory of societal norms at the cost of individual collapse and the tragic defeat of ordinary human beings?
