- Bengal, under British rule, saw the emergence of militant nationalism through the over whelming participation of youngsters in the anti-colonial struggle. Devoid of fear and ready to face the consequences, these ordinary boys became martyrs as they willingly sacrificed their lives to protect the dignity of the motherland.
- Not only were patriots like Kanailal Dutta, Satyendranath Basu,Barindra Kumar Ghose,Hemchandra Kanungoand Khudiram, a part of this revolt but also dabbler rebels like Naren Gossain, who fell prey to British chicanery.
- Moored in today s timeline, Anya Theatre s latest production captures snapshots of the bygone era as they come through the fractured consciousness of Babar and we witness the extraordinary deeds of courage shown by the young boys in the face of mortal danger.
- Their courage contrasts with “hobby revolutionaries” like Naren Gonsai and today’s passive figures like Somraj, questioning true commitment to liberation ideals.
