Sesh Basanta is a psychological stage adaptation based on Samaresh Basu’s short story Shastho Ritu.
- The play centres on Krishnobhamini, a devotional singer of kirtan, whose life is outwardly defined by spiritual discipline, music, and social reverence. Celebrated by the community for her piety, she appears serene and fulfilled; yet beneath this sacred exterior lies profound loneliness and suppressed human desire.
- Kirtan becomes both her refuge and her inner voice—at times offering solace, at times confronting her with unanswered questions. Torn between devotion and human longing, Krishnobhamini enters an unfamiliar emotional state that does not belong to any natural season—this is the “sixth season.” The Last Spring symbolizes her final awakening, where she dares to confront her truth.
- The play is a poetic exploration of a woman’s inner conflict, social hypocrisy, and the fragile boundary between sanctity and humanity.
