A Multilingual Solo Performance

• দি মাস্কেরেড অনুসরণ করে এক অভিনেতাকে, যে মেকআপ রুমে প্রবেশ করে, এক এমন জায়গায় যেখানে তার পরিচয় পিছলে যায়, বদলে যায়, আর স্মৃতির সঙ্গে সংঘর্ষে লিপ্ত হয়। মঞ্চে ওঠার প্রস্তুতির মুহূর্তে অতীতের চরিত্র, কল্পিত স্মৃতি এবং পরিবর্তিত সত্তার খণ্ডচিত্র চারপাশে ভেসে ওঠে ও মিলিয়ে যায়।
• বহু বর্ণনা একে অপরের সঙ্গে জড়িয়ে পড়ে, চরিত্রেরা আসে-যায়, আর মঞ্চ হয়ে ওঠে তার অন্তর্দ্বন্দ্বের সাক্ষী ও আয়না দু’টিই। সংলাপ, স্মৃতি ও দেহসত্তার মাধ্যমে অভিনয়ের গোপন স্থাপত্য উন্মোচিত হয় – মানসিক শ্রম, নির্মিত কল্পনা, এবং নিজের সত্তা ও অভিনীত সত্তার সূক্ষ্ম সীমারেখা।
• এ এক অভিনেতার অন্তর্জগতের ভেতর ডুবে যাওয়ার যাত্রা, যেখানে শিল্প একসাথে সংগ্রামও বটে, আবার মুক্তিও।
• Director’s Note:  A performer enacts, but does he become the subject himself/herself? This interstitial space between the performer and the performed is explored in this performance. It is a self-aware performance that interrogates performitivity within a theatrical setup. The stage is erected as a witness to the characters and their performances. The moment the actor separates from the stage, torques start to whirl within his mind between the self and the selves he masquerades as. Right before his rise to the stage, he arrives at the make-up room, a site of metamorphosis. This site of transformation and flux takes a core position in the performance, The Masquerade. Through memories and flashes of past and imagined presents, the actor streams down a path of catharsis. Owing to the nature of the performance, several stories unfold, various contexts emerge, many characters appear, some of them disappear, while others keep reappearing. Theatre, acting and performance are embodied as matters of the performance. This performance is designed to expose the realities and fantasies of the performing body and the enacting mind in a society.
